Early Childhood Councils
Colorado has established a network of 31 local early childhood councils to collaboratively plan, network, develop resources and implement early childhood initiatives within communities to improve the quality of and access to services for young children and their families. These councils are now active in 56 or Colorado's 64 counties.

The Early Childhood Councils publish the Colorado Early Childhood Councils Initiative, a quarterly newsletter. Current and past newsletters are available on the Newsletters section of the Early Childhood Council’s website

+ How the work of local councils is coordinated at the state level?
The Early Childhood Councils Advisory Team (ECCAT) provides coordination and support for Colorado’s network of local Early Childhood Councils. ECCAT makes recommendations to the Early Childhood Leadership Commission to improve the system of Early Childhood Councils in regards to council applications and criteria, evaluation, technical assistance to councils, and waiver requests. Members of the ECCAT are appointed by the Governor and represent local councils, state agencies and non-profits engaged in programs that benefit young children and their families. Staffing for the council is currently housed in the Lt. Governor Office. Meeting minutes, schedules and agendas for meetings of the ECCAT will be made available on this website under Event presentations and handouts.
